Support Groups at Insula Collective
Welcome to Insula Collective's Support Groups, tailored for the BIPOC community. BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, recognizing and honoring the diverse ethnic backgrounds that make up our community. Our support groups are designed as intimate, 1.5-hour sessions dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive space for individuals to share, connect, and support one another.
With a commitment to ensuring each participant has the opportunity to speak and be heard, our groups limit attendance to no more than 15 individuals. This deliberate size allows for a more personal and focused experience. The session structure is thoughtfully organized to maximize engagement and ensure a nurturing environment.
We kick off each support group with established guidelines to maintain a safe and respectful space. The session begins with a check-in, providing everyone with a chance to share their current thoughts and feelings. Our discussion is centered around a specific topic, facilitated by prompts or questions to guide the conversation, encouraging a deeper exploration of shared experiences.
Towards the end of the session, we transition into a positive close that includes an affirmation, reinforcing the strength found in shared stories and struggles. We also incorporate a poetry reading, embracing the therapeutic power of artistic expression. Finally, we conclude with a commitment to action, empowering participants to take tangible steps toward personal growth and community support.
